Ordinance No. 53

An Ordinance Providing for the Keeping of Dogs and Cats.

The City Council of Badger ordains:

Section 1.  Running at large of any dog or cat is prohibited.  This does not prohibit the appearance of any dog or cat upon streets or public property when such animal is on a leash or under the physical control of the accompanying person.

Section 2.  The City of Badger requires a license for all dogs and cats.  However, there is no longer a charge for the license.  Reason for requiring the license is for identification purposes.  Any dog or cat found without identification will be considered a stray and will be taken to the pound at Roseau and after five days, is not claimed by owner, will be disposed of.  Fee for claiming a dog or cat taken to the pound will be $20.00. plus board.  All owners of dogs or cats may obtain a free license tag from the City Clerk.

Section 3.  All dogs or cats running at large with identification tags will be picked up by the officer and returned to the owner for a fee of $10.00, rather than taking the animal to the pound at Roseau.

Section 4.  All ordinances and parts of ordinances inconsistent with this ordinance are hereby repealed.

Section 5.  This ordinance shall take effect and be in force after its passage and publication.
