Ordinance No. 45

 

An Ordinance Regulating the Use of Highways and Other Places Within the City of Badger and Imposing Penalties for Violation

 

The City Council of Badger Ordains:

 

            Section 1.  Definitions.  Any term used in this ordinance and defined in Minnesota Statutes, Section 169.01 has the meaning given it by that section.

 

            Section 2.  Parking regulations.

 

Subd. 1.  Parallel parking.  On Main Street business district, cars shall be parked parallel to the curb or edge of the roadway in accordance with the law.

 

Subd. 2.  Impoundment.  Any police officer may remove a vehicle from a street to a garage or other place of safety when the vehicle is left unattended and constitutes an obstruction to traffic or hinders snow removal or street improvement or maintenance operations.  Such vehicle shall not be released until the fees for towing and storage are paid in addition to any fine imposed for violation of this ordinance.

           

Section 3.  Truck zones, loading zones, etc.

 

Subd. 1.  No person shall allow a semi-trailer to stand or be parked unattached from a tractor unit for any length of time on any street in the City except in an emergency in order to change tractors.

 

Subd. 2.  Truck parking.  No person shall park a truck of more than one-ton capacity between 8:00 o’clock a.m. and 6:00 o’clock p.m. on any week day upon Main Street business district.

 

            Section 4.  Winter parking.  No vehicles shall be permitted to park on Main Street of Badger between the hours from 2:00 a.m. to 7:00 a.m. on any day November through April for purposes of snow removal.

 

            Section 5.  Police duties.  The police department shall enforce the provisions of this ordinance and the state traffic laws.

 

            Section 6.  Penalty.  Any person convicted of violating any provision of this ordinance is guilty of a petty misdemeanor and shall be punished by a fine of not to exceed $100.

 

 

 

            Section 7.  Effective date.  Passed this 14th day of November, 1979.  The effective date of this Ordinance is the date of this Publication.
