An Ordinance Relating to the Burning of Leaves

 

The City of Badger Ordains:

 

            Section 1.  The burning of leaves on private property is permitted under the following conditions:

 

                        A.  A responsible person shall be in constant attendance until the fire is completely extinguished.

 

                        B.  Burning will only be allowed between the hours of 4:00 P.M. and 10:00 P.M.  All fires are to be extinguished by 10:00 P.M.

 

                        C.  Such fires shall not be less than 25 feet from any structure, wood fence, hedge or bush and no less than 5 feet from any property line.

 

                        D.  The burning of leaves is prohibited on City streets, boulevards, or any public property by private citizens.

 

                        E.  No open burning of leaves shall take place during the air pollution alert warning or emergency declared by the Minnesota Environmental Protection Agency.

 

                        F.  The City Council may temporarily discontinue burning due to unsafe conditions (excessive dryness, etc.)

 

            Section 2.  This section pertains only to the burning of leaves.  Any burning of rubbish, trash, or other material is prohibited.
